Jefferson Teen Facing Attempted Murder Charges After Allegedly Shooting Victim In Face In Lake View

A Jefferson teen is facing attempted murder charges in adult court after allegedly shooting someone in the head in Lake View earlier this month. According to Sac County District Court records, 16-year-old Keegan Dean Kennedy got into a verbal altercation with another passenger in a vehicle around 330th Street and Highway 71 in Lake View on May 4. Kennedy was sitting behind the victim, 30-year-old Dalton Goodman, when he allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot him in the head between the left eye and nose. Goodman does have a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for willful injury for a stabbing in Sac County in 2019, theft in 2020 out of Crawford County, controlled substance violations in Clay County in 2020, and a pending theft charge in O’Brien County. Kennedy was taken into custody and is scheduled for his preliminary hearing on Monday, May 19 at the Sac County Courthouse. Kennedy is facing attempted murder charge, a class B felony. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
