Iowans saw modest price declines at the pump in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, May 14, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.90, down two cents from last week’s price and 35 cents below prices from last year. The national average trended the other direction, rising three cents to $3.18 per gallon. In retail diesel, the Iowa average held steady at $3.29 per gallon but is still 38 cents lower than a year ago. The national average for diesel on Wednesday was $3.54 per gallon. As for renewable fuels at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $2.05 per gallon, Unleaded 87 came in at $2.47, ULSD#2 was $2.30, ULSD#1 was $2.56, and E70 was $1.91. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 14 cents at $3.50 per MMBtu.
