The City of Glidden City Council adopts an ordinance renewing the Black Hills Energy Franchise agreement for the next 25 years. During the last city council meeting, the council waived the second reading and moved to the third reading to officially adopt the ordinance. City Administrator, Brooke Peterson says this agreement between the City of Glidden and Black Hills Energy has been in place for decades.
Black Hills Energy is based out of Rapid City, South Dakota, serving over 1.3 million customers with natural gas and electric utilities across eight states. Peterson says adopting the ordinance was just standard procedure when it comes to these agreements.
Peterson says the city will not have to look at renewing this agreement with Black Hills Energy until 2050.
