The Kuemper Catholic High School band will assist another district by performing at the commencement for the last graduating class. Orient-Macksburg Community School District (O-M CSD) occupying sections of Adair, Madison, Adams, and Union counties, has decided to close its doors and dissolve the district after the 2025-26 school year. Kuemper Catholic Director of Bands, Marie Walsh Becker, says it is an honor to provide this service to O-M CSD, helping them celebrate the ending milestone of both the seniors and the district.
Becker volunteered the Kuemper band to perform for the O-M commencement ceremony, since the district does not have a full band to play for themselves. She has a close tie with O-M, which made her decide to help.
With the district dissolving, students will attend other nearby schools at the start of the upcoming school year. Becker says this isn’t just about celebrating the last graduating class but the district as a whole.
O-M CSD 2025 graduation commencement ceremony is taking place this upcoming Sunday, at 2 p.m.
