Audubon County has been placed in a burn ban effective today (Wednesday) as a preventative measure to save water during the Boil Advisory and low water levels reported by the Regional Water Rural Water Association (RWRWA). As of this morning, the Avoca Rural Water tower 7, which is located on Highway 44 west of Hamlin, is reporting seven feet of water, which is an inadequate supply to keep up with the demand from rural customers and residents in the city of Exira and Brayton. The burn ban will be in effect for all of Audubon County until further notice. No open burning is allowed and those caught in violation of the order will be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
