One Apartment A Total Loss After A Fire Broke Out In Building In Coon Rapids

Only one apartment is deemed a total loss after a fire was believed to have been intentionally set in an apartment in Coon Rapids last night (Wednesday). According to Police Chief Paul Whitenack, the police department was dispatched at approximately 8:50 p.m. in response to an individual who had barricaded themselves inside their apartment in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue in Coon Rapids, with the dwelling in flames. Law enforcement was able to remove the individual and transported them to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment. The fire was contained to the single apartment, with minimal smoke damage reported in the others. Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire as an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Coon Rapids Fire Department, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Carroll County Communications Center assisted in the response.
