Merchants Park is set to host the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) tournament tomorrow (Thursday). This tournament stems from a decision made last March after ICCAC’s agreement with Iowa Central in Fort Dodge ended. The conference includes Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), Ellsworth, Hawkeye, Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes, Kirkwood, Marshalltown, Northeast Community College, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), Southeast Community College, and Western Iowa Tech. Carroll Parks and Recreation Director Chad Tiemeyer says that DMACC played a major role in securing the tournament for Merchants Park.
Tiemeyer says this tournament has the added benefit of welcoming many players, coaches, and fans to Carroll, who will spend several days in the community.
Merchants Park has undergone significant renovations since last year’s state tournament. Tiemeyer says fans can expect many upgrades when walking into the park.
Tiemeyer says Merchants Park will host the tournament this year, with the potential to host again in subsequent years.
The tournament begins Thursday with DMACC playing Ellsworth Community College. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or through the link included within this story on our website.
