Carroll City Council Schedules Special Meeting Wednesday For Developer Memorandum

The Carroll City Council has scheduled a special meeting for tonight (Wednesday) on short notice, and the only item on the agenda is a memorandum of understanding with a low-to-moderate income housing developer. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall to consider the non-binding agreement with Hoppe & Sons, LLC, based in Lincoln, Neb. According to City Manager Aaron Kooiker, the partnership will aid the city in applying for an Iowa Thriving Community designation by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), making low-income housing tax credits available for Carroll builders to seek. The agreement, if approved, would position the city “to provide all reasonable support that it can for the developer to make a successful application.” No other business is on the agenda for tonight’s meeting. The council will meet as usual for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 12. The agenda and links to the video are included below
