The Carroll Chamber of Commerce has named six local students as recipients of the 2025 Carroll County Agricultural Scholarship. Each will receive $1,000 to support their plans to further their education in agriculture-related fields. Chandler Grossman, the son of Keith Grossman and Angela Lensch, is a 2024 Glidden-Ralston graduate now at Iowa State University (ISU), majoring in Agronomy with a focus on drone technology and sustainability. Kuemper Catholic senior Cole Handlos, the son of Adam and Jodi Handlos, Glidden-Ralston senior Jacob Meshek, the son of John and Rachel Meshek, and Kuemper senior Hayden Vonnahme, the son of Bill and Becky Vonnahme, all intend to study Diesel Technology at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Also heading to ISU is Ar-We-Va senior Blayne Smith, the son of Jeremy and Sarah Smith, who plans to study agricultural systems technology to blend tech with sustainable farming. Kuemper senior Mya Wiskus, the daughter of Gary and Amy Wiskus, will attend DMACC for Agriculture Business. The Carroll County Agricultural Scholarship is funded by the Carroll Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Cattlemen, local donors, and proceeds from the annual Chamber Ag Golf Outing and a special 1987 livestock auction.
