Manning Invited To Apply For $1.75 Million Neighborhood Revitalization Grant

The City of Manning has been invited by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) to apply for up to $1.75 million in grant funding to implement its Park Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. The plan, developed through extensive community input, includes upgrades to park amenities, improved pedestrian connectivity, and housing rehabilitation. The initiative is funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and provides economic opportunities and improved facilities for low- and moderate-income residents. Manning is one of only three Iowa communities invited to apply. The total project cost exceeds $2.5 million, requiring Manning to raise more than $750,000 in matching funds. As of April 15, over $425,000 had already been secured—$300,000 from the City Council and $125,000 from private donors, including a $50,000 pledge from United Bank of Iowa. A public meeting will be held on May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Timmerman Shelter House to share more details and encourage additional pledges. Donations may be fulfilled over four years, depending on grant approval.
