“Concerned Iowans” Plan Second Protest For Saturday In Carroll

A local group of people worried about the direction of the county, calling themselves “Concerned Iowans,” is hosting another protest in Carroll this weekend. On Saturday, May 3, the group will gather at the Carroll Public Library at 11:30 a.m. and depart at noon to walk along Court Street and U.S. Highway 30 holding signs in support of “teachers, public education, immigrant laborers, federal workers, farm laborers, and more.” Concerned Iowans hosted a similar protest on April 5 and drew a crowd of around 100 people. The group is hosting Saturday’s event alongside the National May Day Protests occurring nationwide on Thursday. In addition to the protest, organizers are holding a food drive at the library from 11 a.m. to noon for people to drop off non-perishable food items to be distributed to local pantries.
