Endow Glidden Will Fund And Plan Construction Of A New Shelter House At City Park

GLIDDEN-TOWN-SIGN

The City of Glidden will be getting a brand new four-seasoned shelter house at City Park, all thanks to Endow Glidden. Discussion on renovating the current enclosed shelter house at City Park has been occurring at many city council meetings for some time now. The city was exploring the options of renovating the existing shelter or to build a complete new one, more in line with the Kruger Shelter. Glidden Mayor and Committee Member for Endow Glidden, Roger Hartwigsen, says the entire project will be funded and planned by Endow Glidden.

Hartwigsen says Endow Glidden is a 501(c)3 organization that was created in 2018 by six Glidden-Ralston graduates to help promote various projects for the community.

The new shelter house will be at the exact same location as the current enclosed shelter at City Park. Hartwigsen says the new shelter will not be anything fancy, just looking at building a simple structure.

While unable to provide a definite timeline on the construction, Hartwigsen says city crews will come in and take down the existing building to get everything ready for the new shelter.

Once completed, Endow Glidden will donate the building to the City of Glidden to maintain and run.
