Rep. Feenstra Urges Trump Administration To Allow Nationwide E15 Sales This Summer

U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) has joined a bipartisan effort urging the Trump administration to allow the nationwide sale of E15 fuel during the upcoming summer driving season. In a letter to President Donald Trump, Feenstra alongside Reps. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.) and Angie Craig (D-Minn.), asked for an emergency waiver of the Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) limits from June 1 through Sept. 15, enabling continued access to fuel blended with up to 15 percent ethanol. The request follows similar temporary waivers granted in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The lawmakers’ letter says, “Extending the nationwide sale of E15 can again bolster our nation’s energy resilience by adding billions of gallons of ethanol to the nation’s fuel supply, lowering the cost of gas for American families at a time when prices are already too high. As affirmed when you first allowed for year-round E15 in 2019, and those approved for the summers afterward, the sale of higher blends of biofuels during the summer months supports the domestic fuel supply, reduces consumer costs, and promotes American biofuels and agriculture feedstocks.” Feenstra, a strong supporter of Iowa’s biofuels industry, says the move would promote domestic energy production, support American farmers, and benefit consumers. Feenstra also recently urged Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to prioritize homegrown biofuels as part of the Trump administration’s energy strategy and continues to push for permanent, year-round E15 access nationwide.
