Iowa Fuel Report: March 12, 2025

Iowans saw prices at the pump drop by several cents over the last week, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, March 12, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.91 across the state, seven cents lower than last week and 23 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday dropped three cents to $3.08 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices fell six cents to $3.35 per gallon, compared to $3.76 a year ago. Local prices are 28 cents below the $3.63 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 15 cents to $4.19 per MMBtu. Propane prices were down one cent to $1.65 per gallon, while home heating oil dropped five cents to $2.98 per gallon.
