Voters have approved of the Glidden-Ralston Community School District (CSD) implementing a new Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) during last night’s (Tuesday) special election. According to unofficial results from the Carroll County Auditor’s Office, the measure passed with 71.58 percent of the 292 ballots casted in favor to add a $1.34 per $1,000 of taxable valuation levy. The PPEL is expected to generate $2.2 million over the next ten years. Superintendent Thomas Ridder is thankful to those who came out to vote, supporting the levy, for much needed updates to the nearly 100-year-old building.

Ridder says the funding will be used to finance debt that is incurred for many project updates throughout the school.

Ridder says he has already contacted the architect firm, letting them know the district is ready to move forward with the plans.

Work on the projects will begin as soon school gets out for the 2024-25 year. Ridder says GTE Construction will then get to have access to the building without students and staff to work around. Ridder says the renovations should be completed over the summer and ready for the building to be fully operational at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
