Carroll County Engineer Andersen Says Snow Clearing Operations May Take Several Days

Snow-Plow-3

Road crews are hard at work clearing roads throughout the region, but Carroll County Engineer Zac Andersen says it may be Thursday or Friday before they can make a single pass on every road.

In Carroll County, the priority is first to clear the main thoroughfares, generally the county’s paved roadways, and keep them clear before moving on to the less traveled routes. Andersen says the challenge is the drifting snow that fills in soon after a plow completes its route.

Andersen asks rural residents to be patient, as there are nearly 1,100 miles of roads that need to be cleared.

Andersen encourages residents, particularly in rural areas, to stay home until their roads have been adequately cleared, as stuck vehicles only slow down the process. The forecast for the next several days also complicates matters, as one to two inches of snow is possible on Thursday night, with another two to four inches likely on Friday.
