An Arcadia man has been summoned to appear and facing theft charges for allegedly taking cash out of a wallet that was left behind at the Carroll Walmart Supercenter. According to Carroll County District Court records, the Carroll Police Department was dispatched to the department store on Feb. 25 for the report of a theft. The victim told officers that she accidently left her wallet in the cart when she placed it in an outside cart return. She stated there was over $1,000 in cash, along with bank cards, credit cards and identification items. Surveillance showed 20-year-old Jayden Karl Barrick, who was employed at Walmart, removing the wallet from the cart. Officers interviewed Barrick at his residence, who admitted he took possession of the wallet, taking the cash out of it before discarding the wallet in a ditch near the store. The total cash that was removed from the wallet was $1,109. Barrick is currently facing charges of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. He has been ordered to appear on March 6 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If convicted, Barrick can face up to two years in prison and $8,540 in fines.
