The Guthrie Center Fire Fighters Association was one of the 2024 Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grant recipients to purchase new handheld radios. The betterment grant provided more than $2.2 billion to various cities and organizations promoting economic development, agriculture, tourism, and jobs throughout the state. With the changing technology, the volunteer department needed to update radio devices to effectively talk to all parties assisting them on calls. The new handheld radios allow for better communication with the latest systems used by other departments, dispatch, and the state. The Guthrie Center Fire Fighters Association members thank Prairie Meadows for choosing their organization to help keep the firefighters and the community safe.
