The Sac City Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and awards banquet over the weekend, honoring the investors and board members and celebrating the organization’s positive impact on Sac City. Chamber Executive Director Crystal Hanrahan says 2024 was a year to remember, from welcoming two new businesses, watching Racoon Valley’s expansion, a new fundraiser, “Chase the Ace,” to the groundbreaking of the new Iowa Trust and Savings Bank building, and much more.
Hanrahan says the most impactful event is held every December when monetary contributions are doubled and put back into local businesses and organizations.
During the meeting, board members were introduced, the 2024 businesses and individual investors were recognized for their support, and awards were given to Volunteer, Business of the Year, and Sac City Superstar. Hanrahan says Chamber Board President Briana Snider was presented with Volunteer of the Year for many reasons.
The Farber and Otteman Funeral Home was named Business of the Year. Hanrahan says the funeral home has been a staple in the community since 1943.
The final award, Sac City Superstar, went to Mark MacWhorter, Pastor at First Christan Church in Sac City. Hanrahan says he is another one who helps out with whatever the Chamber needs.
Hanrahan says, of course, none of this would be possible without all the volunteers and city crews who continue to step up and support the events hosted by the Chamber. She says the chamber board members and herself are always proud to see the Sac City community step up to promote local businesses, which is always reflected in the organization’s accomplishments. Hanrahan looks forward to 2025 and hopes to make it an even better year.
