The Lake View City Council held a special meeting on Monday to discuss the next steps for hiring a new city administrator after the resignation of Theresa Pudenz. Pudenz worked for Lake View since 2023 and has resigned from the city administrator position to take on employment with the City of Cherokee. Two years ago, when Lake View was in this same situation, the council agreed to hire a head hunter to assist with the hiring process. Council has approved not to use any head hunter this time, as city officials have already had three inquiries for an interim position. The council has directed City Clerk Kay Cates to review the three candidates for an interim city administrator, giving the council more time to review the job description and advertise themselves for the permanent position. Cates will review the inquirers’ qualifications and report back to the council at the next city council meeting on Monday, Feb. 17. Private interviews will then be scheduled before approving a candidate to serve in the role temporarily. The city council agreed to take this route before using a head hunter to fill the position faster, interview all the potential candidates that apply, and save the city roughly $10,000 by not using their services. Those interested in the position or would like more information are encouraged to call Cates at 712-657-2634.
