The City of Glidden will be placing a permanent stop sign on Idaho Street, replacing the temporary stop signs utilized by the Glidden-Ralston Community School District. This is not the first time the stop sign discussion has approached the city council. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says when school is in session, traffic is slowed down a lot more, but that is not always the case.
The temporary stop signs are currently placed on the front, or west side of the school building during school hours at the intersections of Fifth and Idaho and Sixth and Idaho Street. Peterson says the city council has approved to remove both of the moveable stop signs and to place a permanent stop for drivers to obey all the time.
Peterson says the permanent stop is a transition from the two temporary ones, and the change will happen following the conclusion of the current school year.
The delay will also give administrators and teachers a chance to talk to G-R students on crossing Idaho Street at the Fifth Street intersection where the stop sign will be placed.
