The 8,000-ton quote for limestone totaled $172,000, which was approved by the board unanimously. The supervisors then moved on to quotes for gravel, with the low bids coming from Stratford Gravel from two pits. Andersen says the first quote was from the Sparks Pit at $8.10 per ton.

With 80,000 tons on order, the cost for this contract equals $648,000 and also passed with unanimous approval. The other quote for the Cates pit was slightly higher than the Sparks pit at $8.56 per ton. Andersen says this bid was slightly higher due to the need to add limestone to the mix.
