Two local teachers awarded the Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) Teacher Supplement Grants to promote agriculture literacy for their students. Amy Madsen, social studies teacher at Carroll Middle School and Beverly Wolterman, preschool teacher at IKM-Manning are two of the 120 grants awarded across Iowa to initiate new projects or expand existing programs integrating agriculture into classroom instruction and after-school programs. Each teacher is awarded up to $200 to fund lessons, activities, outreach programs, guest speakers and other projects. Funding for these grants are made possible by organizations and individuals, including the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. A complete list of all award recipients is included below.
