Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) celebrates another RN awarded the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Dawn Parkins, RN, works in the obstetrics (OB) department and recently supported a family that made an ever-lasting impact. In the nomination letter, it states: Dawn has an amazing personality. She was a compassionate, caring coach and nurse for my grandaughter’s birth.” The family states how Parkins was there to support the entire family, explaining what was going on and what would be happening next and helping the mother focus during delivery. SMCH staff agree that the nomination reflects Parkins’s dedication to ensuring every patient is valued and understood, genuinely committing to all patients by offering emotional support and guidance. SMCH thanks Parkins for going above and beyond and providing exceptional and compassionate care to make a difference in patients’ lives.
