Eunice Herron of Audubon

     Eunice Herron, age 93, of Audubon, IA, and formerly of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Friendship Home in Audubon.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids, IA, with Pastor Alan Miller officiating.  Music for the service will be by Cindy Seastrom.  Casket bearers will be Max Olesen, Jerry Olesen, Danny Richardson, Olie Olesen, Travis Olesen, and Henry Rumbaugh.  Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery.
     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday evening.  The casket will be moved to Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:30 A.M. prior to the service.

     Eunice was born on January 5, 1931 near Coon Rapids, IA, and she was the daughter of Harry Sr. and Grace (Drake) Olesen.  She grew up on the farm and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1949.  Eunice worked for an ice cream shop in Coon Rapids following high school where she met a recently discharged veteran named Howard Herron. They dated and were married on June 16, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church north east of Coon Rapids.  Eunice and Howard lived on a farm near Guthrie Center and later moved to Jewell, Glidden, and Cambridge.  Eunice worked from 1965 -1991 at Bournes Inc. in Ames where she was an electronics inspector.  They moved an acreage north of Coon Rapids in 1991.  Howard passed away in 2014 and Eunice continued to live in the country until moving to an apartment in Audubon in 2021 and then Friendship Home in 2022.  She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids.  She enjoyed quilting, baking, cooking, word search puzzles, and most of all spending time with her family.
     Eunice is survived by a son David A. Herron and wife Janet of St. Paul, MN; a daughter Deanna Jacobsen and husband Jeff of Audubon; five grandsons: Christopher Herron and wife Sandra of Winona, MN, Jason Herron and wife Shannah of St. Paul, MN, Justin Jacobsen of Coon Rapids, Theodore Jacobsen and his wife Cassie of Audubon, and Dalton Jacobsen of Audubon; six great-grandchildren: Richard (Paula), Nicholas (Taylor), Hannah, Oliver, Lillian, Miles, Taylor, and Casey; two great-great grandchildren: Quinn and Emmie; a sister Mary Ann Olson of Vail; a brother Max Olesen of rural Coon Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and many friends.
     Eunice was preceded in death by her parents Harry Sr. and Grace Olesen; her father and mother-in-law Guy and Lizzy Herron; three sisters: Ramona Richardson and her husband Chuck, Naomi Golay and her husband Ernest, and Claribel Sievers and her husband Merlin; and six brothers: Harry Olesen Jr. and his wife Evelyn, Howard Olesen and his wife Helen, Earl Olesen and his wife Jessie, Jens Olesen and his wife Joan, Bill Olesen and his wife Barb, and Bobby Olesen and his wife Jeri; sisters-in-law: Mildred and Louise Herron and Karen Olesen; a brother-in-law Lester Olsen; and a daughter Marilyn Louise in infancy; a great-granddaughter Stephanie Michelle; and her husband Howard Herron in 2014.
