During the town’s annual Gala Days, the City of Lytton is gearing up for the annual celebration with its residents and the surrounding community. This year, Lytton is proud to mark the 119th year of Gala Days, a testament to its vibrant community. Ryan Wheelock, a Lytton Gala Day Committee member, attributes the event’s longevity to the town’s unwavering spirit.

The festivities start tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. The Lytton Museum opens at 12:00 p.m. and serves lemonade and cookies until 7:30 p.m. The beer garden opens at 5 p.m., and the Kiddie Parade starts at 7:00 p.m. Legion Bingo and live entertainment by Monica Austin will finish out the night. Wheelock says Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend.

The weekend finishes on Sunday with an Ecumenical Church Service at Emanuel St John’s Church, with a potluck following. Monday is the Memorial Day Service at the Legion Hall. The theme for this year’s Gala Days is “Lytton is Picture Perfect,” which makes this year’s Grand Marshal, Melda Bartels, a perfect fit. Besides loving to take pictures and being his mother-in-law, Wheelock says Bartels continues to display her community spirit year after year.

The 2024 Gala Days kicks off tomorrow (Friday) and continues through Memorial Day on Monday, offering a variety of events for the whole family to enjoy. The entire town and the committee are eagerly anticipating this holiday weekend, a time for everyone to come together and celebrate the community. The complete schedule of events can be found below.
