A Boil Advisory Has Been Issued For The City Of Bayard Due To System Shutdown

A boil advisory has been issued for the City of Bayard due to a pressure loss throughout the water system. Crews were out trying to repair a leaking valve but could not isolate the area and needed to shut down the water tower. Repairs are now being made to the leak, and once completed, the area will be flushed and cleaned. Residents of Bayard need to boil any water that is planned to be used for food preparation or consumption for at least two minutes. Bottled water is encouraged to be used as an alternative during this time. Water is still safe for showering, laundry, general washing, and outdoor use without the need to be boiled first. The advisory will be in effect until two consecutive sets of bacterial samples have tested negative, which is expected to take anywhere from 18-24 hours after samples are sent in. Those with questions are asked to contact Ryan Bilheimer at 641-740-1942.
