Bipartisan Group Of Senators Push Biden Administration For 2024 Summertime E15 Sales

Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) joined a bipartisan group of 20 senators in urging President Biden to authorize nationwide E15 sales this summer. Their bipartisan letter underscores the importance of uninterrupted biofuels for Midwestern agrarian states. The senators advocated for an all-of-the-above energy strategy, citing ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East that have the potential to further destabilize the energy market. The push for summertime E15 is supported by the National Corn Growers Association, Growth Energy, and the Renewable Fuels Association. Fifteen Iowa retailers also urged the administration to grant waivers for E15 sales in the 2024 summer driving season, referencing consumer concerns over rising fuel prices. While the Biden administration approved E15 use for the 2025 season, the delayed authorization creates uncertainty for consumers and retailers for the 2024 season.
