A Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) nurse has earned her third DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her commitment to quality of care and compassion for every patient she serves. Bobbi Jo Wempe, a registered nurse who has worked in the Med-Surg department for just shy of three years for the Lake City hospital, is being recognized again by the children of a patient who say her positive spirit and compassion towards their mother truly stood out. The nomination letter stated: “You could say Bobbi Jo was just doing her job. But to us, her extraordinary compassionate care, her ability to laugh along with us, communicating with our family and making us feel like part of the team will forever be appreciated and remembered.” SMCH Chief Nursing Officer Ann Lengeling says, “I have witnessed the impact of Bobbi Jo’s compassion time and time again. To say she is deserving would be an incredible understatement.” Anyone wishing to nominate a nurse for this award can find a nomination form at attending hospitals and clinics. Forms can also be submitted online. The link is included below.
