The Carroll Community School District Invites The Public To An Open House This Thursday To Discuss New Proposed Design For New Transportation Facility

The Carroll Community School District is inviting the public to an open house this Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the current transportation facility to meet with DLR Group to discuss the new proposed design for a new building. During the March 11 board meeting, the board of education approved the schematic design for the 43,500-square-foot facility at a projected cost of under $15 million if the entire design is approved. The proposal of a new transportation system comes after a study was conducted by DLR, which surveyed every building in the district, recommending changes to each based on the services provided and the district’s needs. The administration and board of education proposed to focus on transportation to accommodate for storage for the fleet of buses, expanded room for a service station for mechanical work maintenance, and a wash bay to keep the exterior of the buses in top condition. At the open house, community members will be able to visit with administrative staff and the board of education to discuss the project, discuss the details of the design with the engineering firm, and look at the current facility to compare how the new facility will better meet the needs of the district. During the next meeting, the board plans to meet with DLR again on April 22 to view the final design and vote to approve the beginning of the construction phase. Again, the open house for the public to view the proposed design and to get questions answered for the new transportation facility will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. this Thursday at the current CCSD bus barn.
