A Carroll man was sentenced this morning (Monday) to prison on charges after brutally assaulting a woman with a glass bottle back in February of 2023. According to District Court records, 23-year-old Jaquon Terrion Renard Thomas was sentenced to prison on a term not to exceed five years for one count of Willful Injury, a Class D felony. Thomas was arrested back in February of last year after striking his victim in the face with a glass liquor bottle, causing multiple severe injuries, including fractured teeth, bruising, and lacerations that required stitches. Thomas originally pled not guilty but entered a plea agreement on Feb. 9 of this year to lessen the charge from a Class C felony to a Class D. Thomas was also ordered to pay $1,025 in fines with a 15% surcharge, but those fines have been suspended. Thomas starts his prison sentence immediately and will receive credit for previous time served in connection with this offense.
