An Auburn man faces charges in Carroll County District Court for allegedly stealing a garage door opener from a parked SUV and using it to enter the victim’s property. Court records show 41-year-old Patrick Michael O’Rourke is charged with third-degree burglary—motor vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor, for allegedly entering a vehicle on Feb. 5 in the 1200 block of Plaza Drive and removing the opener without permission from the owner. Authorities say O’Rourke later used the device to gain access to the victim’s garage. His arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, March 14. The charge carries a penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
