Carroll City Council Dives Into FY25 Budget Book At Monday’s Meeting

Budget preparations have been underway for several months for the City of Carroll, and city officials will receive their Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget books during their meeting next week. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says these documents serve as the council’s roadmap for the coming year.

Those budget meetings are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 5, and Wednesday, Feb. 7. Both meetings will be hosted at Carroll City Hall and begin at 5:15 p.m. Also pertaining to the FY25 budget is an update from the Carroll Airport Commission and their annual funding request. Kooiker says the council plans to take another look at the proposed vacant property registration ordinance they had discussed earlier this month.

Another ordinance that had been planned for the last meeting but was tabled for Monday deals with storage containers on residential properties. Kooiker explains what they have planned.

The proposed ordinance would allow for temporary use of such containers, but it will prohibit them from becoming long-term storage solutions. Other items on Monday’s agenda include finalizing rezoning requests for a housing development in Rolling Hills South, consideration of a water service pump bid, a professional service agreement with JEO Consulting for storm sewer improvements on Southgate Road, and a contract renewal with City Attorney Dave Bruner for services. The Monday, Jan. 22 meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. The complete agenda and links to the video are included with this story on our website.
