Two area communities are celebrating Christmas a little early this year this weekend. Today (Saturday), Main Street Coon Rapids is hosting its 16th annual Christmas in a Small Town. The schedule is full all day with ornament decorating at the Coon Rapids Public Library from 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., kids games at Tony’s Corner from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and bingo at Thomas Rest Haven from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to name just a few of the day’s activities. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also meet with children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion. The day’s full schedule is available online at www.coonrapidsiowa.com/mainstreet. On Sunday, Glidden is celebrating with their Winter Wonderland at the Glidden Fire Station. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Clause will be hanging around downtown, with goodie bags for kids, a vendor fair for holiday shopping, and so much more.
