A Nebraska woman has been sentenced to up to five years in prison following her conviction in Carroll County District Court on felony theft charges. According to court records, 32-year-old Kathryn Nolan of Nebraska City, Neb. was arrested by the Carroll Police Department on June 13 after stealing more than $2,000 in products from the Carroll Walmart. Nolan was initially charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony, and fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor, but pled guilty to only the second-degree theft count after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. On Thursday, a judge handed down the sentence for Nolan. In addition to the five-year prison sentence, Nolan was ordered to pay nearly $3,000 in victim restitution. Associated fines and criminal surcharges were suspended, as the victim was found to be indigent and would be unable to pay while in prison.
