Carroll County Supervisors Canvass Nov. 7 City, School Elections

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors formally canvassed the results from the Nov. 7 City/School Elections during their meeting this (Monday) morning. County officials meticulously reviewed the results from each of the county’s precincts. Board Chair Stephanie Hausman says she and the board were pleased with how smoothly the election ran overall.

As of Monday morning, no challenges have been filed as to the results of the elections. For races held entirely within the county, they are now official following the canvass. In races that occurred in two or more counties, each board of supervisors will need to canvass their results and send them to the respective control county to be finalized. Some notable races from last Tuesday’s election include the three open seats on the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education, which went to Jim Friel, Jill Johnston, and Stacey McCaulley. The CCSD instructional support levy (ISL) renewal was also approved, with 55 percent of voters in support. Bond referendums for the Glidden-Ralston and IKM-Manning School Districts failed to reach the 60-percent-plus-one margin required to pass. Voter turnout in Carroll County topped 31 percent compared to the 16.68 percent rate reported statewide. Hausman says Carroll County voted in relatively large numbers, but she’d like turnout to be even higher.

Results from all of last week’s elections can be found included with this story on our website.
