Carroll County officials continue to emphasize that visitors to the Carroll County Courthouse will need to alter their usual habits due to the construction work on the facility’s main level. Earlier this month, they closed the north entrance to the building after the county’s four main offices moved to the basement. However, Supervisor Scott Johnson says the public continues to use that main entrance, creating unsafe situations.
County services are still available within the courthouse, but customers must use either the south or east entrances.
During their meeting Monday, the supervisors noted there has already been at least one instance of a minor injury resulting from a patron ignoring the many signs and warnings and walking into an active construction area. Johnson says they approved the purchase of much larger signs to clarify that the north entrance is closed to the public.
Johnson adds there is plenty of parking available to the public in the lots to the southwest and southeast of the courthouse.
