Dirkx Running Unopposed In Carrol City Council At-Large Election

At-Large Councilman LaVern Dirkx is seeking reelection to the Carroll City Council unopposed in the upcoming Nov. 7 city election. Dirkx has a long history of serving in local elected positions, including 10 years on the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education and nearly a decade on the Carroll City Council. Dirkx says he was considering stepping away from elected office but changed his mind when reviewing the many projects and initiatives he’d like to see through to completion.

While not originally from Carroll, Dirkx says it is a place he and many others have chosen to call home. He says engaging with the community is the first step to making it a better place.

Dirkx says housing remains Carroll’s key problem. During his time on the council, they’ve tried various approaches. He believes their latest efforts of offering financial incentives are gaining some traction, but they can’t back off now.

Dirkx says residents can always be sure that he will do plenty of research on issues before voting.

Dirkx is scheduled to appear in next week’s Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) candidate forum on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Carroll High School auditorium. Other candidates scheduled to appear are Jason Atherton for Ward 2, Jerry Fleshner for Mayor, and Carolyn Siemann and Justin McCool for the Ward 4 seat.
