Paul Baumhover of Carroll

Paul Baumhover, 85 of Carroll, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott.  Music will be by Kathy Halbur.  Lectors for the Funeral Mass will be Chris Janning and Ali Janning.  Gift Bearers will be Kylie Janning, Chelsy Scharn, Colby Baumhover, Savannah Suber, Tyler Eisenbacher, Carson Koll and Cameron Williams.  The RPM Car Club will form an honor guard for the Funeral Mass.  Private burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.  Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for St. Anthony Cancer Center.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Paul’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.

Paul was born January 14, 1938, to Bernard & Rose (Kanne) Baumhover. He was united in marriage on January 28, 1961, to Annette Wiederin.

Together, they made their home on the family farm north of Carroll, where they raised crops and livestock. Following his retirement, he loved spending time with his family, woodworking, playing cards and fishing with his buddies. Paul enjoyed cheering on both the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. He was one of the founding members of the RPM Car Club and thoroughly enjoyed restoring and showing his classic cars.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Annette and eight children, Karen (Terry) Janning, Mike (Shelly) Baumhover, Neil (Trisha) Baumhover, Diane Baumhover, Linda Baumhover, Kim (Tim) Eisenbacher, Lisa (Matt) Koll, Julie Baumhover & friend Tim Sarver.

21 Grandchildren, 3 Step-Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Step-Great-Grandchildren

Paul is survived by his sister Catherine (Dale) Wittry, brothers Gerald (Alice) Baumhover, Charles (Jean) Baumhover, Stephen (Norma) Baumhover, sisters-in-law Marilyn Hoffmann, Pat (Jerry) Heinrichs, Donna (Kevin) O’Donnell and Kathy Wiederin.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Bernard & Rose Baumhover, brother Bill Baumhover, sisters-in-law Margaret “Bubbles” Baumhover and Mary Lou Baumhover, parents-in-law Norbert & Cecelia Wiederin, and brothers-in-law Paul Hoffmann and Vern Pundsack.
