Iowa’s Two-Day Sales Tax Holiday Weekend Begins Friday

Iowa’s annual Sales Tax Holiday begins later this week. The tax holiday officially starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, and continues through 12 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5. During the designated tax exemption period, eligible clothing and footwear items having a selling price of under $100 will be exempt from state sales tax, providing a significant cost-saving advantage for consumers. Whether you’re gearing up for the back-to-school season or planning to make special purchases for the upcoming holiday season, this two-day tax break is an ideal time to do so. Online sales are also included in the tax exemption, provided they are ordered and paid for within the exemption period. “Clothing” does not include watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, sporting equipment, skis, swim fins, roller blades, skates, and any special clothing or footwear designed primarily for athletic activity or protective use. Follow the link included below for a more detailed qualification and exclusion list.
