Lake View Man Suffers Life-Threatening Head Injuries; Authorities Seek Public’s Help In Investigation

Authorities in Sac County are seeking the public’s help in their investigation into a weekend incident that left a Lake View man with life-threatening head injuries. According to Sac County Sheriff, Ken McClure, first responders were dispatched to the 100 block of W. 4th Street in Lake View at approximately 1:04 a.m. Saturday. Authorities say that neighborhood residents found 50-year-old Stanley “Sam” Mortensen II unresponsive in the street with severe injuries to the back of his head. Mortensen was transported to Loring Hospital by Sac County Emergency Medical Services and later airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Law enforcement says Mortensen had been involved in a verbal argument with a man and woman on a motorcycle prior to the incident, and those individuals have been identified. However, the circumstances leading up to Mortensen’s injury have not been determined. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office requests anybody with first-hand information or who directly witnessed how Mortensen was injured to contact the Sac County Sheriff’s Office at 712-262-7127. The Lake View Police Department and Sac County Attorney’s Office are also assisting in the investigation.
