Three KHS Juniors Receive Scholarship To ISU College Of Agriculture and Life Science Program

Three Kuemper Catholic High School juniors received a Norman E. Borlaug scholarship for their participation in the Iowa Youth Institute yesterday (Monday). The conference was held at Iowa State University (ISU) in Ames. Owen Ferneding, Kerrigan Irlbeck, and Kaci Peter presented agriculture-related research essays to professors and industry experts, followed by a question-and-answer session. Ferneding’s paper was on “Achieving Food Security Through CMOs in China.” Irlbeck researched “The Effects of Potential Solutions to Water Scarcity in Somalia,” Peter’s focus was “Education and Food Insecurity in Mali.” Each student received a $1,000 scholarship to the ISU College of Agriculture and Life Science program.
