Iowa Fuel Report: March 15, 2023

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, fuel prices were mostly stable over the past week. As of Wednesday, March 15, the cost of regular unleaded gasoline was unchanged from the prior week at $3.24 per gallon. Iowa’s gas is priced 67 cents lower than this time last year and 23 cents below the national average, which climbed two cents this week. Iowa diesel fuel rose one cent to $3.95 per gallon, 78 cents lower than 2022’s costs and 39 cents lower than the current $4.34 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16. As for heating fuels, propane prices held steady with a statewide average of $1.93 per gallon, home heating oil prices dropped eight cents to $3.43 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dipped 16 cents to $2.42 per MMBtu.
