IKM-Manning School District Holding A Vote To Pass Tax Revenue Bond

IKM-Manning residents are heading to the polls next month to vote on a proposed tax revenue bond that will help pay for district facility improvements. Polls open on Tuesday, March 7, and the school is seeking $7.9 million. Superintendent Trevor Miller says they have a lot planned for the Manning campus.

Miller stresses that this is a revenue bond, so it will not affect taxpayers.

The bond needs to pass by at 50 percent plus one margin. Miller says absentee ballot requests are due next week on February 20. He adds they are waiting to confirm the voting locations and times; however, they have a pretty solid idea of where they will be.

According to Miller, this process started four years ago when they hired a company to conduct a facilities study.

Miller adds they tried two years in a row to pass a general obligation bond that would have affected taxpayers, but it failed both times. The IKM-Manning School Board voted unanimously to send the tax revenue bond for a vote. Again, the vote is scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, with absentee ballot requests due on Monday.
