The Lake View City Council has scheduled their public hearing for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 maximum property tax levy for Monday, Feb 20. Since 2019, Iowa law requires cities to notify the public of any changes to most of the municipal levies. The listed maximum property tax rate for FY24 in Lake View’s public notice is $6.45 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. However, that figure does not include all levies utilized by the city, most notably the Debt Service Levy. According to City Administrator Scott Peterson, general fund tax revenues will increase by two percent, bringing the total tax levy for FY24 to $7.26 per $1,000 of taxable valuation.
