St. Anthony Implements Visitor Precautions As Flu Activity Rises

St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Nursing Home is implementing visitor restrictions in response to increases in influenza positivity rates in Carroll County. Hospital administrators announced yesterday (Tuesday) that visitors under the age of 18 years old, and individuals showing respiratory symptoms, such as cough, congestion, sore throat, or fever should not enter St. Anthony facilities, except as a patient. Visitor restrictions will remain in place until local influenza activity decreases to acceptable levels. St. Anthony staff encourages area residents to practice good hand hygiene, as it is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of illness. Another effective method is through the use of influenza vaccines, which are still available at regional medical centers and pharmacies.
