A local church is bringing back its annual Blue Christmas services next weekend to remind people it is okay to feel down during the typically joy-filled holiday season. First United Methodist Church of Carroll Pastor Terry Plocher says it can be challenging for people who are celebrating Thanksgiving or Christmas for the first time since the death of a loved one.
This year’s Blue Christmas event is planned for Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street. Plocher says it is a non-denominational service and anybody is welcome to attend.
In addition to the memorial services, Plocher says participants will make unique ornaments dedicated to their loved ones.
Area churches participating in the Blue Christmas include Carroll First Presbyterian, Glidden United Methodist, and Glidden Methodist, along with support from the Carroll County National Alliance on Mental Illness.
