Carroll Cares Seeks Gift Donations For Area Youth

The annual Carroll Cares toy drive is going on right now, and only a few days remain for people interested in supporting local children to make a donation. Sara Anderson, who helped launch this holiday tradition, says it started as a small idea with friends that quickly grew into so much more.

Following that first year’s success, the First United Methodist Church group decided to host the Carroll Cares drive every year. Anderson says the support from residents and businesses has been overwhelming. Donations are collected at the Church through Dec. 1 and are picked up by New Opportunities and the Family Resource Center the following weekend.

Gifts are needed for children from newborns to 18 years old. Anderson says shopping for younger kids is typically more straightforward, but they must have various gifts for all interests and age groups.

Another popular gift is sports equipment, particularly footballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, etc. Anderson says it isn’t always easy for some people to pick out gifts for kids, but they will gladly accept cash donations and do the shopping for you.

Again, that number is 712-792-1122. Donations can be dropped off at First United Methodist Church at 1621 N. Main Street through Tuesday, Dec. 1.
