Local Leaders Bring Rural Iowa Issues To DC During CCGP’s 2022 Access Washington

Community, county, and business leaders traveled to Washington, D.C. last week to meet with elected officials and department heads to bring local issues to the forefront during the Carroll County Growth Partnership’s (CCGP) annual Access Washington trip. CCGP Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler says face-to-face interaction with Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, Congressman Randy Feenstra, government officials, and their staff help ensure the area’s representatives in the nation’s capital know and understand the challenges facing rural Iowa.

This year’s Access Washington included representatives from CCGP, Region XII Council of Governments, city officials, county supervisors, and hospital administrators. The group brought eight topics considered critical to Carroll County’s success, such as changes to rural hospital regulations and reimbursement rates, a four-lane Highway 30 across Iowa, and excess regulations on municipal wastewater discharge. While there is no guarantee they will see action on these issues, Tiefenthaler believes local concerns are being heard.

Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on the individual topics discussed during CCGP’s 2022 Access Washington trip in upcoming newscasts.
