Tammy Koester of Des Moines, formerly of Dedham

Tammy Koester, age 49, of Des Moines, and formerly of Dedham, Iowa, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at her home.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by Cindy Bauer and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Gift Bearers will be Lori Warner and Tracy Sturm. Casket Bearers will be Tammy’s family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph’s Church on Friday morning where visitation will resume from 9 – 9:45 a.m.

Tammy, the daughter of Leonard and Norma (Loeffelholz) Koester was born January 20, 1973 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Dedham and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1991. During her high school years Tammy was employed at the Donna’s Café. After high school Tammy enrolled at Drake University graduating with a degree in Business Administration. After completing her education Tammy was employed with Principal Financial and later Sammons Financial both in Des Moines.
Tammy had a great sense of humor often playing mischievous pranks on anyone she knew. She also enjoyed crafts, sneaking drives in her brother’s Blue Bonneville, and her many cats over the years. Tammy will be remembered for her friendship.
Survivors include her brothers: Ted Koester of Dedham, Jim “Grizz” (Jeanette) Koester of Altoona; niece and nephew: James (Angela) Koester of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer (Michael) Des Moines. Good friends: Lori Warner of Carroll, and Tracy Sturm of Carroll.
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents.
